National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee Hires Bill Saracino as Communications Director and Western Regional Political Director

Merrifield, Va.—May 27, 2014—The National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee, a political action committee formed to draft Dr. Ben Carson into the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, today announced that Bill Saracino, an experienced communications expert and political campaigner, will serve as the Committee’s communications director and western regional political director.

“Bill’s expertise in both communications and political organization is an important addition to the Draft Ben Carson movement,” said Vernon Robinson, the Committee’s campaign director. “As the movement continues to growth, Bill will play an integral role in communicating why it’s vital to our nation’s future that Dr. Carson run for president, and in mobilizing grassroots volunteers to spread the message and convince Dr. Carson to enter the race.”

As communications director for the Committee, Saracino will oversee and coordinate volunteer communications efforts to ensure a focused message among the more than 10,000 Committee volunteers. In his role as western regional political director, Saracino will be responsible for organizing volunteers and planning events for the Committee throughout the western United States from his home base in California.

Saracino is the owner of Saracino Consulting, a multi-purpose political consulting firm based in Los Angeles. He has run more than 75 legislative and congressional campaigns, and directed more than $15 million in independent expenditure efforts. Saracino has previously served as the chief operating officer of the Parents Television Council, political director of the Gun Owners of California, and western states director of Steve Forbes for President.

“Since I served as a Republican National Convention delegate pledged to Ronald Reagan in 1976 and 1980, I’ve been passionate about supporting principled leaders who love the United States and are willing to sacrifice to make this country stronger,” Saracino said. “Dr. Carson is that kind of leader, and I’m looking forward to being part of the nationwide effort to not only convince him to run, but support his eventual candidacy by building a network of committed supporters around the nation.”

Hundreds of thousands of people have signed petitions encouraging Dr. Carson to enter the race for the nomination. The Committee delivers roughly 4,000 petitions to Dr. Carson each week from Americans who want him to run. In January, Dr. Carson overwhelmingly won the Linn County, Iowa, midterm caucus straw poll with 87 percent of the votes. He also finished strong in the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and Northeast Republican Leadership Conference straw polls. In a recent poll of thousands of Tea Party activists, 77 percent of respondents said they support Dr. Carson.
