The Atlantic and the 2016 Republican Convention

This summer, Cleveland will be at the center of the conservative world as delegates, party leaders, donors, pollsters and strategists gather to launch the 2016 general election and their bid to retake the White House. The Atlantic will gather key campaign staffers, lawmakers, local officials and analysts for a range of events to discuss issues of consequence to everyday Americans and shed light on the vision and policy goals of the Republican nominee.

The Atlantic is relocating to an iconic restaurant in downtown Cleveland where we’ll host a series of briefings and events daily throughout convention week. Check back regularly for information about other events that will be added to the schedule.

MONDAY, JULY 18—BATTLE FOR CONGRESS
As we gear up for the general election, the Republican Party looks to retake the White House and keep control of the House and Senate. The Atlantic’s congressional briefing will take a look at the races up and down the ballot that could signal a shift of power in Washington.

TUESDAY, JULY 19—THE ELECTION IN NUMBERS
We’ll gather leading pollsters to break down the numbers and offer insight about the states the Republican nominee will have to compete in and win to claim the White House in November.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20—HOW  WILL THEY GOVERN?
What kind of vision, policies and decision-making can we expect from the next president? With party leaders and key Republican strategists, we provide perspective and insight on the next four years of presidential leadership.

THURSDAY, JULY 21—ROAD TO THE WHITE HOUSE
On the last day of the Republican Convention, we’ll turn our attention to the big finale and onward to the general election. We’ll bring together campaign managers and political strategists to draw on their combined experience and talk about what the nominee needs to accomplish in the big speech, the issues at play, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing the Republican Party in November.



The Atlantic and the 2016 Democratic Convention

Democrats will convene in Philadelphia to officially nominate their candidate for the 2016 presidential election, with the aim of retaining the White House and retaking control of Congress. The Atlantic will gather key campaign staffers, lawmakers, local officials, leading pollsters and political strategists for a range of events to discuss issues of consequence to everyday Americans and shed light on the vision and policy goals of the Democratic nominee.

The Atlantic is relocating to a popular bar in the heart of Center City where we'll host a series of briefings and events daily throughout convention week. Check back regularly for information about other events that will be added to the schedule.
