CQ Roll Call and Cleveland Plain Dealer Announce Joint Coverage of Republican National Convention

Washington, D.C. (June 27, 2016) – CQ Roll Call, cleveland.com and The Cleveland Plain Dealer announced today plans to combine efforts and provide superior coverage of the Republican National Convention, taking place July 18-21 in Cleveland, Ohio.

By adding Roll Call’s access to congressional leaders – including Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who will chair the convention – to the on-the-ground expertise of cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, the three media companies will offer readers unparalleled coverage of the week’s activities. The combined effort will provide the latest news on the nominating process, the roles played by members of Congress, security issues, and updates on down-ballot races.

“We are excited to have this opportunity to take Roll Call’s content to a much wider audience by working with first-class partners like cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer,” said David Ellis, chief content officer of CQ Roll Call.

“We’ll have an army of reporters on the ground that week, and Roll Call’s expertise and access to newsmakers will be a huge boost to the coverage we plan,” said Chris Quinn, vice president of content at cleveland.com.

“Roll Call’s writers will offer our readers an extra layer of depth and context, and we’re proud to partner with them,” said George Rodrigue, editor of The Plain Dealer.

The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com will contribute Cleveland-based analysis to CQ Roll Call’s definitive Convention Guide, to be distributed to the 25,000 hotel rooms housing delegates and media. And Roll Call will make available to cleveland.com and Plain Dealer readers its ongoing news and analysis from behind the scenes, including insight from veteran political writers Walter Shapiro, Patricia Murphy, Jonathan Allen and David Hawkings. Roll Call content will appear in the Plain Dealer’s print edition, on Cleveland.com and on RollCall.com.

A daily politics newsletter published by cleveland.com, Battleground Briefing, will include links to Roll Call content each day of the convention.
