OVERVIEW
Qu1nlan, commenting on the Guam Democratic Caucus Megathread on reddit,
provided useful context on the caucus:
"Absolutely,
our
biggest
struggle
was
explaining to people that they could vote in
the Presidential primary at all. Because we cannot vote for President
in the general election, most people do not know they could vote in the
primary. When we were phone banking, even when we told people they
could vote they didn't believe us.
"Another issue is that Guam is such a small island, that many voters are used to having a personal connection with politicians. Because of these personal connections, voter turn out in local elections is huge - 70-80% sometimes. But needless to say, no Presidential candidate has every stopped by Guam and with no personal connection, people just don't feel compelled to vote."

RESULTS:
Thank you so much for everyone who voted & volunteered
for Guam! Every single delegate counts. We took 40.5% of the vote and
we were able to get Bernie 3 out of 7 pledged delegates.
We
still have several contests left and we are definitely going to a
contested convention. Let us stay motivated. This movement has always
been More than Bernie. It is about each and everyone of us being
empowered to stand up against the status quo and get our voices heard.
Let us
not forget the bigger victories of our campaign in Guam. With
the help of our dedicated local and mainland volunteers, we were able
to spread the news that Guam has a say in the presidential election. We
were able to start the conversation about the misconception that we
could not vote in the primary election. It was heartwarming to see the
excited faces of many people, BOTH young and old, who had the
opportunity to vote for the FIRST TIME for a presidential nominee.
Additionally,
with
the
help
of
our
local
volunteers and organizers,
Bernie released the most comprehensive platform ever made for Guam
which sheds light to the many issues we face. Hopefully, this will
become a trend and presidential candidates in the future will pay more
attention to the issues of our island.
Through
the dedication of
many of you who have volunteered and voted we have fired the first shot
of our own political revolution and empowerment.
Biba Guam!!!
