Instructive Materials for Potential Delegates

Procedure:
A potential candidate for Delegate and/or Alternate to the Republican National Convention must complete a Delegate Form and either (1) obtain the signatures of 25 registered District of Columbia Republican voters using petition forms provided by the District of Columbia Republican Party (DC GOP) or (2) provide a check in the amount of $50 made payable to the “DC Republican Party.” Delegate candidates must complete a Declaration Form in its entirety to receive petition forms. All filing documentation (Delegate Form and either signatures or $50) must be presented in person by the Delegate Candidate to the DC GOP offices. Upon filing, official candidates are eligible for the endorsement of a Presidential campaign. Such endorsements are not a qualification to appear on the ballot and may be refused by Delegate candidates. Delegates and Alternates to the Republican National Convention will be elected at the District of Columbia Republican State Convention on March 12, 2016.
Qualifications:
A candidate for Delegate and/or Alternate to the Republican National Convention must be:
1. A resident and registered voter in the District of Columbia as of January 1, 2016; and
2. A registered Republican
Important Dates:
November/December, 2015 (Date TBD): First day for Delegate candidates to pick up petitions
Friday, February 12, 2016: Delegate Form and (1) Petitions and/or (2) $50 fee due in person. No exceptions.
Monday, February 15, 2016: First day for Presidential campaigns to endorse up to 32 Delegates
Monday, February 29: Last day for Delegate candidates may accept or reject Presidential campaign endorsement
Early March 2016: DC Republican Party Lincoln Douglass Day Dinner
Saturday, March 12, 2016: DC Republican Presidential Candidate & Delegate Selection Convention
Acknowledgement:
All Delegates and Alternates to the Convention are financially responsible for all costs involved with his or her travel, accommodation, and activities at Convention. Such costs could range from several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on transportation, convention hotel, and activities. By submitting the Delegate filing, all Delegate and Alternate candidates acknowledge and agree to pay all of his or her costs. The DC GOP shall not have any responsibility for any costs.
