Democrats, Independents, and Non-Affliiated Voters Encouraged to Participate in Tuesday’s South Dakota Democratic Primary Election

Sioux Falls, SD (June 5, 2016)-

The South Dakota Democratic Party encourages Democrats, Independents, and Non-affiliated voters to participate in South Dakota’s Democratic Primary on TuesdayWhile independent and no party affiliation voters are excluded from participating in Republican primary elections in South Dakota, they are welcome to vote in Democratic primary elections.

“The Democratic Party is committed to strengthening voter participation. That is why the South Dakota Democratic Party has opened primary voting to Independent and non-affiliated voters. Independents and voters with no party affiliation may vote in the South Dakota Democratic Primary by simply requesting the Democratic ballot at their polling place.” said Suzanne Jones Pranger, Executive Director of the South Dakota Democratic Party. 

To help ensure maximum voter participation in the Primary, the South Dakota Democratic Party today announced the availability of a Voter Protection Hotline for the June 7th Democratic Primary Election. Any Democratic, Independent, or Non-affliated voter that encounters a problem voting in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary Election is encouraged to contact the South Dakota Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Hotline at (605) 271-5405 for assistance.

Registered South Dakota voters can vote early in the office of their County Auditor until 5 p.m. Monday, June 6. Polls are open on Tuesday June 7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Voters can find their polling location at the South Dakota Voter Information Portal.
