Senator Tim Johnson Endorses Hillary Clinton

Yesterday, Senator Tim Johnson endorsed Hillary Clinton for President of the United States. In his endorsement, and on Memorial Day, Johnson highlighted Clinton’s record as an advocate for our military and veterans as a core reason for his endorsement. He also recognized that she will fight to raise wages and break down barriers holding back South Dakota families, as she has for her entire career.

"While I appreciate the campaign that Senator Sanders has run, it's my view that Secretary Clinton is the strongest choice to lead our country into the future,” Senator Tim Johnson said. “She has worked tirelessly for decades to improve the lives of everyday Americans, and has all the qualities you'd want in a president--she's tough, smart, compassionate, and decisive. Most importantly, I know that Secretary Clinton will be a tireless advocate for our veterans and their families in South Dakota. She has real plans to help communities across the state get ahead. I have no hesitation at all in endorsing her for President of the United States."

Johnson has a long and distinguished record fighting for South Dakota veterans.  As South Dakota's senior senator and Chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Committee on Appropriations, Johnson was instrumental in preventing the closure of the Ellsworth Air Force Base and securing millions of dollars for VA facilities across the state responsible for administering health services to South Dakota's 72,000 living veterans.
