California Legislative LGBT Caucus Endorses Hillary Clinton for President

Sacramento, CA -- The California Legislative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Caucus has endorsed Hillary Clinton for the 2016 presidential election.

“Hillary Clinton has been an ardent supporter of LGBT issues,” says Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman (D-Stockton), Chair of the Caucus. “Her historic words in 2011 at the United Nations convention that “gay rights are human rights” signaled to world leaders that the United States was and continues to be, committed to advancing full equality for the LGBT community.”

As Secretary of State, Clinton strengthened the Department’s policies on anti-discrimination, worked with global advocates and other stakeholders in encouraging countries to decriminalize same-sex relationships, and supported programs that extended benefits and additional protections to LGBT individuals.

“The Caucus stands in proud solidarity with Hillary.” Chair Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman says, “We look forward to working together in continuing the fight toward full equality and justice for our gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered brothers and sisters.”Members of the California Legislature
