RE: Strong Position Six Months from SC Primary

Six months from today, South Carolina will host the First-in-the-South Primary, and Hillary Clinton is continuing to work hard and take nothing for granted to earn the support of South Carolinians.

Head Start in Building Grassroots Infrastructure

Like President Obama did in South Carolina in 2008, our campaign is building a grassroots infrastructure to win by organizing diverse neighborhood teams. For months, we were the only campaign on either side of the aisle with offices and staff reaching out to voters.

Throughout this campaign we have and will continue to meet with voters where they are — at their homes, communities, work, and places of worship.

This head start has provided an organizing advantage in the Palmetto Statebecause Hillary for SC has:

· Hosted 508 grassroots campaign events
· Conducted 791 one-on-one Meetings with voters
· 1,887 active volunteers who have completed a volunteer shift·
· 9,000 followers on state social media accounts and growing SMS text program
· Reached out to nearly 100,000 unique Democrats in the Palmetto State by going door-to-door, making phone calls, joining community events, and hosting house parties
· Had 10,225 South Carolinians sign a Commit to Vote card
· Launched a series of community meetings in six counties

Focused on Issues Important to South Carolinians

Through half a dozen town halls and forums, Hillary Clinton has made it a priority to listen to the concerns of South Carolinians. Many of her ideas have come directly from the Palmetto State on issues like investments in Historically Black Colleges and Universities and technical schools, growing our apprenticeship programs, and strengthening and expanding programs that serve rural communities with high poverty rates.

While in the Palmetto State, she’s focused on helping South Carolinians get ahead and stay ahead by discussing boosting wages, job training, college affordability, systemic racism, equal pay, and investing in infrastructure and rural development.

At a time when most of the GOP field hasn’t addressed issues like criminal justice reform, voting rights, racial disparities in America, or the racial wealth gap, Clinton has brought addressing systemic racism to the forefront of her campaign.

Strong Support from Community Leaders

In recent weeks Clinton’s South Carolina campaign has continued to demonstrate our critical momentum with the endorsements of dozens of Mayors and community officials as well as former Governors Jim Hodges and Dick Riley. Both announced their support of Hillary Clinton because of her record as a tenacious fighter for hard-working Americans.

Building off her meeting with minority women small business owners, Clinton will also be announcing new coalitions in South Carolina like Women and Girls for Hillary in the coming weeks. In addition, the campaign has started to build coalitions with students and educators, faith leaders, and law enforcement as well as veterans and military families.
