Hillary for America Announces Massachusetts Leadership Council

Hillary for America announced the launch of its “Massachusetts Leadership Council”– a group of 190 elected officials, community, labor and grassroots leaders who will help build a grassroots-driven volunteer team that will help Hillary Clinton win the Massachusetts Primary on March 1st. The Council includes an unprecedented level of support of Massachusetts office holders.

These Massachusetts officials are taking on leadership roles in Clinton’s Massachusetts campaign on the heels of her recent announcement in Boston of her $275 billion plan to invest in America’s infrastructure so we can create jobs and increase wages.

Leadership Council members share Clinton’s commitment to raising wages for the middle class, strengthening our nation’s infrastructure to create good-paying jobs, defending and enhancing the Affordable Care Act, and ensuring that cost is not a barrier for students going to college and much more. “Hillary Clinton is the kind of effective leader America needs to continue building a strong, healthy and prosperous country,” said Senator Ed Markey. “Clinton’s commitment to protecting our environment, combating the opioid epidemic, and standing up for our workers and their families is why I am honored to serve on Clinton’s Massachusetts Leadership Council.”

“I am proud to be one of the leaders of Hillary Clinton’s campaign team in Massachusetts, and to endorse her candidacy for President of the United States. As a longtime friend and supporter, I know Hillary’s record and continued commitment to fighting for working families in New England and across the country make her the clear choice in 2016. I am thrilled to stand with her,” said Congressman Richard E. Neal, the dean of the Congressional delegation.

“I’m with Hillary because her commitment to creating more good paying jobs and raising wages for all Americans reflects the same values and commitment to working families that I work toward every day here in Massachusetts and they are what we need nationally,” said Attorney General Maura Healey. “I was glad to endorse her this summer, am proud to be a member of her leadership council and to be working hard here in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to help elect her President.”

“I am proud to support Hillary Clinton for President,” MassachusettsTreasurer Deborah Goldberg said. “The vision I have for Massachusetts is the vision Hillary has for our country. A place where wage equality is no longer a battleground but an intrinsic value of our workplace, where teaching financial literacy is as important as reading, writing, math and science; a place where higher education is affordable and accessible to everyone; a place where government and corporate leadership accurately reflect the diversity of our population. These are essential components of a healthy and thriving society. They do not simply make moral sense, they make good economic sense. That is why we need a leader who can break down barriers and get things done. That leader is Hillary Clinton.”

“Hillary Clinton’s commitment to fighting for working families, her comprehensive policy agenda, and breadth of experience are exactly what we need to continue moving Massachusetts, and the country, forward,” said Massachusetts Senate President Stan Rosenberg. “I am proud to be a member of Hillary Clinton’s Massachusetts Leadership Council. I look forward to working to elect her the next President of the United States.”

“Hillary Clinton is an outstanding global leader and tireless advocate for working Americans,” Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said. “I am proud to call her a friend and honored to have the chance to help elect her the next president of the United States.”

Over the course of the campaign, the Massachusetts Leadership Council will continue to expand.
