Texas Endorsements

The campaign's first big Texas endorsement came from HUD Secretary Julián Castron on Oct. 15, 2015.   On Oct. 19 the campaign sent out a press release on its Texas Leadership Council, comprising almost 90 Texas Democrats.  The list included eight of the 11 Democratic members of Congress, seven state senators and 31 state representatives; it also mistakenly included San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor and Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert.  The campaign announced more endorsements in Feb. 2016.

Clinton Earns Backing of More Than 50 Texas Grassroots and Party Leaders

Hillary Clinton earned the backing of more than 50 grassroots and Democratic Party leaders in Texas today, underscoring her strong and growing support ahead of Texas’ March 1 Democratic presidential primary. This support from a diverse array of Texas leaders follows the announcement of more than 40 current and former elected and appointed officials endorsing Clinton, in addition to the nearly 90 Democratic leaders who serve on Clinton’s Texas Leadership Council. These leaders are supporting Clinton for her long work to improve the lives of Texans – from her time registering voters in San Antonio in 1972 to her work to help enact the Children’s Health Insurance Program to her proposals in this campaign to defend and improve health care, expand voting rights, reform our criminal justice system and raise wages.

“This support from dozens of grassroots leaders in communities across Texas shows the momentum and energy Hillary Clinton is seeing in the Lone Star State,” said Hillary for America Texas Press Secretary Carlos Sanchez. “We continue to gain steam ahead of the March 1 primary among a diverse cross-section of Texans who know Hillary Clinton will fight for them in the White House.”

This list of supporters includes members of the Senatorial District and State Democratic Executive Committees (SDEC), Democratic County Chairs, and DNC members.
