Colleges For Hillary launches grassroots campaign for Hillary 2016 at Wellesley College

WELLESLEY, Mass., March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Colleges For Hillary and Wellesley International Relations Council hosted an inaugural documentary screening and discussion on March 17th at the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's alma mater, Wellesley College. This event launched a grassroots nation-wide student campaign in anticipation of Clinton's 2016 presidential run.

Colleges For Hillary (CFH) is a grassroots political organization founded by Laurelle Cheng (Wellesley '15), Queenie Cheng Clemente (Obama '08) and Paul Clemente (Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan '91-'92), individuals who are passionate about getting Clinton elected as the first female President of the United States. The organization focuses on garnering support from the college student demographic.

In this day and age, popular media and the opposing party look to dehumanize candidates and make snap judgments without giving candidates a fair shake. Colleges For Hillary strives to dispel myths about Hillary via the film medium and in-person discussions with people who know her well; to help people understand Hillary as a real person.

In this endeavor Colleges For Hillary hopes to offer young voters a new and unvarnished perspective on Hillary – not just as a highly accomplished "superhuman" politician, but also a human being that above all else is looking to improve the lives of millions across the globe.

The campaign's inaugural film featured "The Human Side of a Leader" by Yuri Morejon and Marcela Garces. It depicts the relationship betweenHillary and Rocco DeFazio, an Italian American business owner of DeFazio's Pizzeria in Troy, New York. Mr. DeFazio was the guest of honor at the event. He led a discussion and shared personal vignettes of his relationship with Hillary.

This event was the first of its kind at Wellesley College and the initial response was extraordinary. Within 5 minutes of the Facebook announcement, almost 200 people subscribed to the event in the middle of mid terms before spring break.

During the 2016 election season, Colleges For Hillary representatives across the U.S. will be hosting screenings of select films at their respective campuses. In addition, the inaugural film is being screened concurrently at several Ready for Hillary parties across the United States, the first being in Chicago.

Colleges For Hillary supports independent filmmakers and is currently accepting new proposals for this campaign.
