NEW YORK, Oct. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today nonpartisan social action platform Global Citizen announced the lineup for a multi-city campaign designed to recruit and engage eligible young voters to show up and vote in swing states for the 2016 election through community-driven events to get voters to the polls.

Global Citizen's Show Up and Vote campaign will mobilize young voters across the country to take action and vote, and in select states will organize events to encourage early voting.

"As we have seen around the world, non-participation in the electoral process represents a serious threat to the notion of citizenship at home and abroad. Global Citizen is excited to get out and mobilize young people in key states to use their voice," said Hugh Evans, CEO of Global Citizen.

"I'm excited to be performing in Orlando for #ShowupVote. I've been traveling the country on my VOTE DAMMIT tour and it's been inspiring to see so many people energized about the idea of participating in the electoral process and breathing new life into our democracy. I hope that this event will help further galvanize young voters in the crucial state of Florida to participate in this and every election," said Ani DiFranco.

"Millennials have the opportunity to be a decisive voting bloc in this election, but it's critical that they show up at the polls. For more than a year, we've been engaging millennials in battleground states across the country about the impact of the election on our climate and our country--and the stakes are too high to stay home," said NextGen Climate President Tom Steyer. "By partnering with Global Citizen, we're showing millennials that voting can not only make a difference--but it can also be a ton of fun."

For this initiative, Global Citizen is partnering with NextGen Climate, Democracy Fund Voice, TargetSmart, Lyft and the Life is Beautiful Festival.

The event in Las Vegas, NV will run both Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th from 3pm - 6pm at the World Market Center.

Columbus, OH will take place Friday October 28th at Express Live, from 3pm - 6pm.

Orlando, FL will take place at the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on November 3rd from 3pm - 6pm.
