Huckabee announces addition of Hope Walker as South Carolina State Director

Huckabee: "Hope brings unmatched political credentials to the table."

Little Rock, Ark. - In advance of his May 5 announcement of a decision on running for president, Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee announced today the addition of Hope Walker as his South Carolina State Director.  Walker most recently served as State Director of the South Carolina Republican Party.

"I have a special affinity in my heart for incredible towns and great people named 'Hope,'" Gov. Huckabee said.  "I'm proud to have Hope Walker join my team in South Carolina.  She knows every corner of the Palmetto State and has built invaluable relationships with Republicans statewide.  She brings unmatched political credentials to the table."

"I'm absolutely thrilled about joining Governor Huckabee's team," Walker said. "I've worked at the South Carolina Republican Party for the past four years, and I've had the privilege of meeting many politicians and presidential candidates. Governor Huckabee connects with grassroots activists in South Carolina better than anyone I've ever seen. He stands out as a genuine, authentic man of integrity who can communicate the Republican message in a positive, upbeat way."

Walker adds, "While Governor, he cut taxes nearly 100 times, balanced the budget for ten years straight, and grew the average Arkansas family income by 50%. What's so fascinating is that he accomplished this amidst a hugely Democrat legislature - not to mention South Carolinians want to defeat the Clinton machine and Governor Huckabee is the only one who has proven he can. Should he decide to run, Gov. Huckabee has a strong conservative record and real conservative accomplishments that will be very popular with voters here in South Carolina."

Walker is from Irmo, S.C. and is a 2011 graduate of Newberry College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a double minor in History and Spanish where she was active as Student Body President. She has experience in various areas of the South Carolina Republican Party, ranging from campaigning and fundraising to event planning and constituent service. Walker has served on multiple boards within the SCGOP and is knowledgeable and engaged in party politics.
