Los Angeles Businessman, Civic Leader, and Philanthropist Rick Caruso Named National Finance and California State Co-Chair for Kasich for America

Following a highly successful California fund-raising swing last week, Kasich for America announced today that businessman, civic leader and philanthropist Rick J. Caruso will formally join the campaign as National Finance and California State Co-Chair.

Caruso said, “It has become very clear that John Kasich is the best candidate in this race. He has produced positive results as the Governor of Ohio, and has a track record of strong leadership in both the public and private sectors. He is the only candidate who can unite this country. His uplifting, positive message will stand out here in California, as well as in the other critical states left to vote. I’m excited to help John become the next President of the United States.”

Caruso is founder and chief executive officer of Caruso Affiliated, one of the largest, privately held real estate companies in the U.S. Recognized for its portfolio of best-in-class properties, Caruso Affiliated develops, owns and manages a growing portfolio of high-quality retail, mixed-use, and hospitality assets. Caruso Affiliated’s properties, including The Grove and The Americana at Brand are among the highest-grossing retail centers in the world, as ranked by the International Council of Shopping Centers. A dedicated civil leader in his native Los Angeles, Caruso has served as commissioner of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and as Los Angeles Police Commissioner.

Said Kasich, “Rick Caruso is a civic leader and business visionary who has dedicated his career to revitalizing and serving his community and I am excited to have him join Kasich for America. His depth of character can be seen in his influence in his industry as well as his passion for philanthropy in his community; I am grateful to have his business acumen and his deep dedication to America on our side as we build toward winning the White House.”

Rick Caruso also is one of California’s leading philanthropists, having founded the Caruso Family Foundation in 1991, which is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children, with a focus on education and healthcare issues, in Los Angeles. He also serves as a trustee for the University of Southern California and Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.
