EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Executive Director Michael Sargeant
(started at the DLCC in 2001) Executive director since May 2007; earlier served as national political director, 2002-07 and as a political director, 2001-02. Tennessee House caucus director, April-Nov. 2000. From 1994-99 he managed campaigns at many different levels. Undergraduate degree from St. John’s University, 1994. New Jersey native.
POLITICAL
National Political Director Kurt Fritts
Kurt was named the National Political Director after working for the DLCC as a political director in the 2012 election cycle. Kurt has many years of experience working in Washington state legislative politics. In 2001 he was the lead Democratic staffer in Washington's redistricting process and then ran the state Senate caucus campaign committee for two cycles, where he helped pick up the two seats needed for a real Democratic majority in 2004. Kurt served as Governor Chris Gregoire’s external affairs director the following year, after which he became a leader in the state’s environmental community during his five-year tenure at Washington Conservation Voters. Immediately prior to joining the DLCC, Kurt spent seven months in southern Sudan managing a civic and voter education project for the National Democratic Institute in advance of that region's 2011 referendum for independence. As a political director for the DLCC Kurt helped five caucus programs gain Democratic control in 2012.
Political Director Kevin Boyd
Before joining the DLCC in 2011, Kevin spent five
cycles with the Iowa
House Democrats. Working for Speaker Patrick Murphy, he was the
Campaign Director for two cycles and the Deputy Campaign Director for
two cycles. He previously had been a campaign manager for two Iowa
House races. He started his career helping on municipal races in his
hometown, Iowa City. He is a proud Hawkeye and a graduate of the
University of Iowa.
Political Director Mike Luce
Mike joined in the DLCC in 2013 after serving as the Executive Director for the Nevada Senate Democratic Caucus for nearly two years where Democrats successfully held the majority in the 2012 election. Before his work in Nevada, he worked for the Pennsylvania House Caucus, and his campaign experience ranges from gubernatorial to judicial campaigns as well as a stint for a Democratic mail firm. Mike is a native of Missouri, a proud Cardinals fan and a graduate of Temple University.
National Field Director David Griggs
[Deputy national field director in the 2012
cycle] Dave joined the DLCC in 2010 and hails from Minneapolis,
MN. He most recently managed Sen. Tom Bakk's campaign for Governor and
has spent several cycles working for the Minnesota DFL's Coordinated
Campaign, getting his start in 2002 as a Field Organizer for Sen. Paul
Wellstone's reelection bid. Dave is a graduate of New York University
and received a J.D. in 2007 from the University of St. Thomas School of
Law in Minneapolis.
Deputy National Field Director Graham
Wilson
Graham joined the DLCC in 2014; prior to joining the
DLCC he worked in
different states for different campaigns across the country. One of the
first field hires for the Obama Campaign in 2007, he continued working
in the Obama organization until 2011. He was formerly the Grassroots
Victory Program Director at the DLCC. A native of Minneapolis
Minnesota, his political career began in his home state in 2006 when he
worked for the Minnesota DFL Coordinated Campaign.
Political Assistant Alex Chapman
Alex joined the DLCC as a Political Assistant 2013.
Prior to that she worked as an intern with the DLCC where she assisted
the departments with several research and communications projects. Alex
worked in the private sector after graduating from the University of
South Carolina with a B.A. in Political Science. She moved to
Washington D.C. from South Carolina and is a proud Charlestonian.
Grassroots Victory Program Director Mari
Borden
Mari joined the DLCC in 2013. Starting her career as
Campaign Manager
for a local legislative candidate in her home town Portland, Oregon,
she has since helped win passage of critical consumer protection bills
as Coalition Coordinator for Economic Fairness Oregon, overseen big
wins in Oregon’s House of Representatives as Campaign Services Director
for Future PAC, served as Co-Chair of the Oregon Women’s Campaign
School, gained experience working on the Hill for Congressman DeFazio
(D-OR) and helped launch an integrated new media firm specializing in
advertisement technology and online consulting.
Research
Research Director Marissa Morabito
Marissa joined the DLCC in 2011. She previously worked at a leading state and local government relations firm. Before coming to Washington, Marissa was a Policy Advisor for the Democratic Caucus at the Arizona House of Representatives. She received a letter of appreciation from the Department of Defense for a bill she helped shepherd through the state legislature. Marissa also was a Senior Associate at a Democratic political consulting firm, where she provided strategic guidance on public affairs and issue management to members of Congress, independent expenditure campaigns, public policy groups, and statewide campaigns. In 2004, Marissa worked in Boston as a coordinating intern at the Democratic National Convention. Marissa graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in political science and is a native of Boulder, Colorado.
COMMUNICATIONS
Communications Director formerly Dan Roth
Digital Director Nathan Thomas
Prior to joining the DLCC in 2009 as communications/research assistant, Thomas worked on the writing staff of the Mack Crounse Group. He is a veteran of the 2008 Iowa Caucuses and later joined the field staff of Don Cazayoux’s successful special election campaign for Congress in Louisiana. Started as an intern for the 2006 congressional campaigns of Nick Lampson and Dan Maffei. Graduate of Syracuse University in New York. Native of New Orleans.
OPERATIONS
Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth (Lizz) Gramling
Joined the DLCC in 2007. Prior to that, she spent two
years as the office manager at John Kerry's Senate re-elect committee
and leadership PAC. In the 2004 campaign cycle she worked in the voter
contact and targeting department at the DNC. Previously worked in the
non-profit sector. From Burlington, NJ.
Jessica Brown, Operations Assistant
Jessica joined the DLCC in 2012, shortly after receiving her B.A. from the University of Connecticut where she double majored in history and political science. Prior to that, she worked on the Hill for Representative Jim Himes (CT-4). For three summers, Jessica carried out volunteer work for Lew Simon, the district leader of the 23rd Assembly District, Part B in Queens, New York. She is a native of Connecticut and proud to be a Husky.
Financial Services Director Adam Phillips
Prior to joining the DLCC in 2011, Adam spent seven
years working in
Iowa politics, most recently as the Finance Director and Deputy
Campaign Director for the Iowa House Democrats. He graduated with
Bachelor degrees in Finance and Political Science from the University
of Northern Iowa. Adam is a native of Lisbon, Iowa.
FINANCE
Finance Director Megan Hannigan
Megan joined the finance team in 2009, shortly after receiving her B.A. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She previously served as the DLCC's Finance Associate as well as Deputy Finance Director. Originally from just across the Potomac in Virginia, Megan has also worked on the Hill in the office of US Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).
Finance Associate Abigail Strayer
Abi joined the DLCC Finance Team in 2012. She spent
the last four years
working on the finance teams of various democratic campaigns across the
country, including races in Hawaii, Washington and nearby Northern
Virginia. She was selected as a member of the 2008 EMILY’s list
Campaign Corps class where she worked on the Missouri Secretary of
State’s race. Abi received her B.A. from the College of Charleston in
2008 and is a native of Columbus, OH.

Communications Director Dan Roth
(to latter part of 2013) Dan joined the DLCC in 2012. Dan's first job after college was managing a campaign for the Oregon House of Representatives in 2000. Following that campaign, Dan served two members of the California Assembly where he worked on a range of policy and communications issues; was the chief of staff to a Sacramento City Council Member; advocated for California's non-profit health care clinics; and did media relations and strategic communications for an international conservation non-profit. As a political activist, Dan has worked on more campaigns than he can count, including serving on the Sacramento steering committee of Governor Jerry Brown's successful 2010 campaign and assisting many campaigns for state legislature, city council, and school board.
