U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Arrives at the Capitol
Nov. 25, 2013--After a 22-day trip from the Colville National Forest in eastern Washington State the 88-foot Engelmann spruce selected as this year's U.S. Capitol Christmas tree arrived at the Capitol.  Workers from the office of the Architect of the Capitol unloaded the tree and took it to its location on the lawn.  In the coming days the tree will be decorated with ornaments created by Washingtonians on the theme of "Sharing Washington's Good Nature."
Drivers Duane Brusseaux from San Jose and Gaylon Baker drove the Mack truck carrying the tree across the country, making 26 stops to share the tree's story with people en route.
Architect of the Capitol Stephen T. Ayers, joined by Capitol Christmas Tree coordinator Jen Knutson of the Forest Service and Ted Bechtol, AOC Superintentent of the Capitol Grounds, welcomed the tree.
