Scholars Continue Work on the 2012 Campaign
Nov. 21, 2013--Even as the parties and political operatives look towards the 2014 and 2016 elections, academics continue to study, analyze and discuss the 2012 campaign.  At the 99th Annual Convention of the National Communication Association, Professor Robert E. Denton, Jr., chair of the department of communication at Virginia Tech, headed a panel on "The 2012 Presidential Campaign: An Overview and Analysis of the Major Areas of Political Campaign Communication." One of the participants in the panel, Professor John Tedesco, also of Virginia Tech, said he was surprised at "how much the candidates stretched the truth in their advertising."
Among close to two dozen books Denton has authored, co-authored or edited is his quadriennial edited series offering a communication perspective on presidential campaigns.  The most recent volume is "The 2012 Presidential Campaign: A Communication Perspective" (Rowman & Littlefield, July 2013).
