President Obama Rallies with Terry McAuliffe in Arlington, Virginia   ...3 of 4 >
It's been a long road for Terry McAuliffe, but he stands on the cusp of achieving the governorship.  McAuliffe, a businessman and veteran fundraiser who served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2001-05 and is close to the Clintons, sought the Democratic nomination for governor in 2009, but finished second to State Sen. Creigh Deeds with 26% of the vote.

"We are not going to forget that Ken Cuccinelli sided with the Tea Party against Virginia families," McAuliffe declared.  He repeatedly contrasted "their Tea Party ticket" and "our mainstream ticket."  McAuliffe said his supporters had knocked on 175,000 doors on Saturday (Nov. 2), and 1,770,000 doors since Jan. 1.
