March 8, 2014--Washington Times
president and CEO Larry Beasley, ACU chairman Al Cardenas, and pollster
Tony Fabrizio announced the results of the Washington Times CPAC 2014
Straw Poll.
|
 |
 |
A total of 2,459 CPAC attendees
participated. Forty-two percent of
CPAC registrants were students, so the numbers are skewed toward youth
(46% in the 18-25 age bracket, 18% 26-40, 15% 41-55, 11% 56-65 and 9%
over 65). For the second year in a row, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)
won. Keeping in mind the limited value of straw polls, the
20-point margin was surprising as was Carson's strong showing and
Rubio's diminished showing.
