Happy Independence Day

Two hundred and thirty eight years ago at Independence Hall in Philadelphia
our Founding Fathers adopted the Declaration of Independence. 
July 4, 2014 - Citizens carry a large flag down Constitution Ave. during the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, DC.  Like parades in communities across the country, this parade is replete with flags, marching bands, and floats, although it is bigger than most and is a bit different in that it does not have any elected officials or candidates for public office.  It did have interesting diversity, including a group of Taiwanese-Americans, a very energetic Latin-American dance troupe, a couple of Falun Dafa groups, and at the end a Hare Krishna contingent.  The event is produced by Diversified Events under contract with the National Park Service.
