RNC 2014 Winter Meeting - Interested Cities: Las Vegas  ...next >
Jan. 23, 2014 - Instead of holding a reception, the Host Committee hosted two lounges where RNC members and guests could obtain refreshments, snacks and WiFi access and talk with leaders of the Las Vegas effort.  Mike Slanker, partner and founder of November Inc., explained that the lounges allowed the Las Vegas team to be around for the whole time of the meeting.  (Indeed one of the lounges happened to be located directly opposite the first meeting of the Site Selection Committee).  "Everyone knows Las Vegas knows how to throw a party," Slanker said.  Las Vegas is making a very strong case.  "No on can match our logistics," said Slanker, emphasizing that Las Vegas' ability to host all delegates and events within a one-mile radius "allows for an incredible delegate experience."  When convention business finishes at 8:00 or 8:30 p.m. delegates could quickly find their way to dinner and a show.  Further Slanker said, the Las Vegas Convention Center can be configured so "every delegate and alternate [is] on the floor."  Slanker said Las Vegas has "the strongest case up and down from financing to logisitics."  "We do this all the time," he concluded.
Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki is chairing the Nevada Host Committee.

The gift box included a fleece, a T-shirt, a hat, a mocked-up credential, a portfolio, a lanyard, a pin and literature.
Literature included a general brochure, a brochure on entertainment, a brochure on dining, a series of post cards with facts, and a card from Gov. Brian Sandoval:

"Las Vegas has so much to offer.  Hotels and spas.  Golf and hiking.  Restaurants and world-class shows.  We've thought of everything.  All we need now is you.

"Hope to see you in 2016."
