New Member Office Lottery  ...next >
Nov. 19, 2014 -- Members-elect of the U.S. House of Representatives attended a lottery to determine assignment of office suites.  Each Member is entitled to a three-room suite.
Stirring the numbers.  Below, Members-elect and aides wait for the proceedings to start.
Bill Weidemeyer, Superintendent of House Office Buildings, explains how the lottery will occur.  At one point he said that if any of those present so wished he could ask the press (to the side of the room; not seen in the photos) to leave if they had questions that they didn't wish to ask in front of the media.  This prompted some laughs, and none of the Members-elect took him up on the offer.
