April 12, 2014 - Don Beyer, 63, built up a successful car dealership in Northern Virginia, served two terms as lieutenant governor (elected 1989 and 1993), was the Democratic nominee for governor in 1997, losing to Jim Gilmore, headed up Obama's transition team at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and served as U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
