Greenville Mayor Knox White Endorses Marco Rubio for President

"I'm for Marco Rubio, as I know all of you are, for a lot of reasons. This election is so very important, ... He understands what freedom is about and that we are a beacon of freedom. And that we are a beacon of freedom in a hostile world. He understands that, and that is why among many reasons he will make a great President of the United States. I am so proud, as the mayor of the City of Greenville to welcome him to Greenville."

Hi, I am Knox White, the Mayor of the City of Greenville. I am so proud to welcome Senator Marco Rubio to our great city. We even gave the Florida guy a little bit of snow today. Isn't that great? It is that kind of place.

I'm for Marco Rubio, as I know all of you are, for a lot of reasons. This election is so very important, but one part of it is that as angry as people may be around this country. We hear a lot about that. But at the end of the day, people in this country do want to come together, do want to see things done. I don't know of anyone who can unite more factions, more people within the Republican Party than Marco Rubio.

Then after the primaries -- there is something after the primaries -- there is something called a general election. I don't know of anyone able to bring more people to our side than Marco Rubio.

And finally, on something of a personal note for me -- I told him last night: I go to Miami a lot, I've always been going down there on business. I have always had an incredible respect for the Cuban-Americans of this country. You know, it takes people like that, who have known something other than freedom, who have known that, and who have came to this country with nothing. In some cases didn't even speak English, but just had that aspiration. Those of that were native born can never get this, we can never understand how deeply rooted that is in your soul which you and your family and your friends did themselves and this great country.

That's what makes this man so extraordinary on issues of foreign policy, because he understands freedom. He understands what freedom is about and that we are a beacon of freedom. And that we are a beacon of freedom in a hostile world. He understands that, and that is why among many reasons he will make a great President of the United States. I am so proud, as the mayor of the City of Greenville to welcome him to Greenville.
