LINDSEY GRAHAM
FOR PRESIDENT
- Personal life experience
- Military background
- In-depth knowledge of our struggles around the world
An American Story
GRIT. DETERMINATION. HONESTY.
Lindsey Graham was raised in Central, South Carolina where his family
owned a liquor store, restaurant and pool hall. The Grahams lived in a
single room in the back of the liquor store and shared a restroom with
the restaurant's patrons.
Neither of his parents finished high school, and Lindsey was the first
member of his family to go to college. While Lindsey was attending the
University of South Carolina, his mother passed away. The following
year, his father died.
Lindsey and his 13-year-old sister, Darline, moved in with an aunt and
uncle. Lindsey traveled home most weekends from school to assist with
the family businesses and help take care of his sister, whom he
eventually adopted. Social Security survivor benefits helped the family
make ends meet.
Upon completing law school, Lindsey joined the Air Force and served
four years in Europe as a military prosecutor and defense attorney.
After 33 years in the military, he retired earlier this year as a
Colonel from the Air Force Reserves.
First elected to Congress in 1994 and to the Senate in 2002, Lindsey
Graham is a well-respected national security leader and advocate for
solving the big problems facing our country.
Today, Senator Graham is running for President to restore American
security at home and abroad. With a lifetime of service, he has the
knowledge, the ability and the experience to become Commander in Chief
on Day One. Because the challenges are so great and the problems so
big, there is no time for on the job training.
Security through STRENGTH
America's National Security
Threat: Defeating Radical Islam
Barack Obama's foreign policy agenda is a disaster. As a result, our
allies are uncertain and our enemies are emboldened. Lindsey Graham has
been a leading opponent of the President's failed policies.
Senator Graham believes we will never have peace with radical
Islamists. We will secure our homeland only by remaining strong here
and around the world. We must stand with our allies, rebuild our
military, and hunt down terrorists wherever they are.
Most importantly, we must never allow radical Islamists to get weapons
of mass destruction. Senator Graham has led the effort to prevent Iran,
a state sponsor of terror and sworn enemy of the United States and
Israel, from gaining nuclear weapons. This is the major national
security challenge of our time.
"You want to know how this ends?
We win, and they lose. I lay down every night and wake up every morning
determined to protect this country. We must fight them over there to
keep them from coming here."
A Ticking Time Bomb: Saving Social Security
In 1950, there were sixteen workers paying into Social Security for
every retiree. Today, there are only three workers, and that number
continues to decline. As eighty million Baby Boomers begin to retire,
the system is unsustainable and will bankrupt our country.
It's time to get serious and save the system so many depend on. Limited
means testing. Raise the retirement age for YOUNGER workers - not
current or soon-to-be retirees. And ensure all who have paid into the
system receive benefits.
"Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill
worked together in 1983 and prolonged the life of Social Security for
30 years. When I'm President,
there will be no more important domestic priority than saving Social
Security and preventing our country from going bankrupt. The only way to do it is to
tackle the problem head on."
Doing the BIG THINGS
Lindsey Graham has always been willing to fight the hard fights and do
what's important – not just what's politically expedient.
In an unstable world, with an uncertain future here at home, we need a
Presidetn who will do what is in the best interest of the country. A
President who is willing to tackle the tough issues and defend the
American Dream for generations to come.
Lindsey Graham: A fighter who doesn't back down from a challenge. A
conservative who gets things done. A leader who puts our country above
all.
