DNC 2015 Winter Meeting  ...next >
Feb. 19, 2015 - The DNC Office of Party Affairs and Delegate Selection (PADS) held a workshop on delegate selection which drew a large crowd.  State parties are in the midst of drafting and adopting their delegate selection plans.  The parties must put their plans through a 30-day public comment period before they are adopted. They must  be submitted to the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee by May 4; the RBC will review the plans and make sure they comply.
Attendees picked up:
 - Delegate Selection Timetable (+)
 - Equal Division
 - Bonus Delegates
 - Increasing Participation In the Delegate Selection Process
 - 20 Tips For a Successful Delegate Selection Process
 - Appendix B Delegate / Alternate Allocation
 - Packet of Sample Exhibits, Attachments and Press Releases
Rev. Regena Thomas, DNC director of community engagement; Lorainne Miller, co-chair of the Rules and Bylaws Committee; Patrice Taylor, director of PADS; Rick Boylan, advisor to PADS; and Alecia Dyer, PADS special assistant.
States parties can get  additional delegates for holding the first determining step of their delegate selection processes later on and for clustering with neighboring states to hold their contests on the same day.  These incentives are designed to encourage a more rationale primary calendar.
The March 2 deadline for appointing an Affirmative Action Committee is fast approaching.
Not everyone can be a delegate or alternate, but there are other roles people can play including serving as members of the three standing committees.
