Carson: With the launch of this website, I formally establish what is called a presidential exploratory committee to examine whether I should become a candidate for President of the United States.  In so doing, I very much need and look forward to your feedback and help.

All of us are frustrated with the way Washington has let us down.  The career politicians simply don't understand the disappointment, anger and pain in real America.  As they cater to the special interests first, they don't even seem to care about how failed policies and waste actually affect us, the people of the United States.

I think it's time for us to show them how much we do care about the job they are doing.

If I run for president it will be because I know what it's like to grow up in a tough neighborhood and feel marginalized.

If I run it will be because I know first hand that quality education is the ladder to climb out of poverty and dependence.

If I run it will be because I know the very survival of our great country depends on strong leadership to address our real concerns about security, about jobs, about America's standing in the world.

If I run it will be because it is not acceptable for us to be dismissed and ignored by Washington politicians who we entrusted to lead this country.

While I don't claim to have all the answers to every question that plagues us, I do have a passion to reach out, listen, and build common sense solutions to the problems that are holding us back as a nation.  That's how America became great and how we can leave our children the opportunities that enable greatness in them.

I have spent most of my life caring for the health and well-being of children.  Today, I am no longer their doctor, but I am more concerned about their future than ever.  I worry.  How will they get the education they need to find good jobs?  Will there be jobs to find?  Will the world be more dangerous than it is right now?  How can they possibly pay off the massive debt we are piling on their shoulders?

Rest assured that if I run for president I will do so with only one goal in mind and that is to heal and strengthen this great nation.  For over 200 years, all that has been asked of each generation of Americans is to leave this country better off than the one they inherited.  This is our solemn duty.  Together we can do better; we must, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

If I believe that I have your support and your commitment to help, I will run for president to lead this great country to a brighter future.

I will use these next few months to listen to you and prepare to answer that question myself.

Please sign up, and stay in touch with me at  Thank you and may God continue to bless America.

Notes: Carson becomes the first Republican to form an exploratory committee, but his announcement is very general.  (Compare to the only other exploratory candidate, Democrat Jim Webb, who produced a much less polished visually but much more substantive 14-plus minute video).

Also here is an March 3 email put out by the exploratory committee through conservativeintel and vison4america.

Yesterday, I filed with the Federal Election Commission the necessary paperwork to formally consider a run for President of the United States in 2016.
Let me tell you why I’m taking this step today, and how you can help.
For many years, I have traveled the country closely studying our politics. I believe we are on the verge of robbing our children of the American Dream.
We are racking up a virtually insurmountable debt, stifling our economic potential and placing our children’s future at risk.
At home and abroad, we are silencing honest debate about our challenges, our differences and our culture, all in the name of political correctness.
We are ceding more and more power to Washington bureaucrats at the expense of our personal liberty, ignoring the wisdom of our founders who risked their lives to form “a more perfect union.”
Too many of our children are trapped in failing schools and find themselves thrust into a deadly cycle of crime, dependence and despair.
Over the course of thousands of operations as the head of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, I have spent most of my adult life caring for very ill children. As co-founder of the non-profit Carson Scholars Fund, my wife Candy and I have spent years helping children find their own inspiration to reach their full, God-given potential.
In many ways, that is the duty of my generation – to do everything in our power to give the next generation the opportunity to achieve greatness.
I believe that with hard work and determined leadership, greatness is within our grasp. America was founded on the self-evident truth that we as a nation have the right to think big and pursue happiness.
It is this core principle that allowed me, a young boy, raised in Detroit by a single, illiterate but determined mother, to overcome poverty, bad grades, and low self-esteem to become one of the world’s leading physicians.
I’ve decided to explore a potential run for the office of President because I believe my values, life experience, and willingness to speak the truth and seek solutions, prepares me well to lead our nation toward more prosperity, security, and freedom for every American.
As I travel around the country to listen, learn and determine whether or not this is a race I can win, your financial support during the next two months will be extremely helpful.
To make a secure contribution to my exploratory committee now, please go here.
I look forward to working with you, and the rest of our fellow citizens to restore the promise of America.
Thank you, and God Bless America.
