President"

[Music] Lincoln Chafee: I'm
Lincoln Chafee, and I'm running for president.
We in America have real problems to solve. Let's make good
decisions. Smart countries invest in their transportation
networks.
I know that we can address climate change and extreme weather, and protect American jobs.
There's a gnawing sense of hopelessness in many of our cities.
We need to increase our focus and investment in our public schools
and
universities.
Let's get affordable health care to everyone.
We can should do
better for native Americans, new Americans and disadvantaged
Americans. And we need to make sure that real opportunity exists
for all Americans.
In America, freedom is special. Let's not sacrifice our civil
liberties for a false sense of security.
Our Founders designed the Great Seal with the eagle's talons holding
arrows and olive
branches. I believe that with the proper meshing of a strong
military with a commitment to peace we can achieve security and
sustainability.
I voted against the Iraq war. I knew it was based on
lies.
And now I'm alarmed about the international instability
especially in the Middle East and North Africa. I don't like
where this is going. In this age of nuclear weapons and the chaos
that threatens our collective future we need fresh ideas and the most
skillful diplomacy.
The election of 2016 is a crucial moment for us as Americans.
While the Republican candidates continue to stoke fear and anger, I
believe it is up to Democrats to offer a more hopeful and a more
realistic alternative.
Over the last 30 years I have served as a mayor, a governor and a
United States Senator. My career is marked by the highest ethical
standards, and I have a proven record as a peacemaker. Time and
time again I have exercised good judgment, exhibited level-headnesses,
and shown careful foresight when making decisions. And I stand on
my principles. I always fight for what I think is America's
long-term best interest. I'm not afraid to take the heat from
pundits or political opponents. My reputation for speaking truth
to power is hard-earned. I am ready to lead.
