"Rick Perry Visits New Hampshire
2015"
+
1:08 video from Feb. 15, 2014.
[Music]
Rick Perry (voiceover):
We're
in
beautiful
New
Hampshire, the Granite State. Granite's
tough; it's durable, just like the people who live in this fiercely
independent state. We've been to Concord, Manchester, Dover,
Portsmouth--meeting with locals, learning about what's important to
them, what they care about. It's snowing, it's cold, but I'm
fired up.
Rick Perry (to camera):
Live
free
or
die.
Amen.
Rick Perry (clips from
speech): We will be there standing up for freedom no matter
where it is, economically, militarily, and if we have a Congress and a
President that respect that then the greatest years of America are in
front of us. Are you ready to send that message across this
country, that New Hampshire is about living free or dying? Are
you ready for that? God bless you. Thank you all for
letting me come and being a part of this today. [applause]
Rick Perry (voiceover): Love you...
Notes: NH Journal's John DiStasio described this
as "the first campaign-style digital ad of the 2016 cycle." It
includes scenes from Perry's Feb. 11-12 trip to New Hampshire
interwoven with a variety of B-roll clips, such as views from the plane
and views from the car as they drove around. It is fairly typical
of the "candidate on the road" genre, but nicely
structured and a bit poetic at times. The video starts with
voiceover, then Perry direct to the camera
("Live free or die. Amen.") and finally clips from Perry's
speech. The
scenes from the car driving in the snow and dim light as Perry in
voiceover states,
"It's snowing, it's cold" capture the scene well. One sees a
number of familiar faces
including Mike Dennehy, Karen Testerman...
