Eleven Republican Candidates to Attend Heritage Action’s Presidential Forum

May 21, 2015

Heritage Action to Host GOP Presidential Forum with Gov. Nikki Haley and Jim DeMint in South Carolina

Letter from Heritage Action

July 21, 2015

Dear Republican Presidential Candidates,

Earlier this year, Heritage Action for America announced that we would be hosting our first-ever Presidential Candidate Forum on Friday, September 18, 2015, at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. The forum, designed as a wide-ranging, policy-focused discussion with candidates for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination, will be hosted by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and will also feature former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint.

In order to qualify for an invitation to participate in the forum, candidates must satisfy the following requirements:

1. File an FEC Form 2 by August 15, 2015, declaring their official candidacy for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination (or submit a letter to the FEC by that date meeting all requirements under FEC rules to substitute for the official Form 2); and

2. Either (a) register at or above three percent support in the RealClearPolitics Republican Presidential Nomination national polling average on July 20, 2015, or (b) register at or above one percent support in the RealClearPolitics Republican Presidential Nomination national polling average for at least one day between August 1 and August 31, 2015.

Individual invitations will be sent to candidates on a rolling basis as they qualify under the above criteria, which have been designed to ensure that the voters have the opportunity to hear from as many candidates as possible during the Forum considering time constraints.

For planning purposes, we recommend that candidates planning to participate in the Forum reserve the hours of 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. on September 18, 2015, on their schedules until they receive notice ofthe specific times at which they will appear.

We are looking forward to working with all qualifying campaigns to make this the most substantive policy discussion of the 2016 Republican primary. Please contact Jessica Anderson at Jessica.Anderson@heritageaction.com for follow up questions.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Needham
