Clinton did few rallies in September. There was time off
following pneumonia, and preparation for the first debate on Sept.
26. Clinton's coughing episode in
Cleveland on Sept. 5 and her wobbly
departure from the 9/11 memorial service in New York brought into sharp
focus the question of her health, something that Trump and his allies
had
been raising but had been dismissed by her campaign. Sept. 9 was
a notable day. First she visited her doctor and received the
diagnosis of pneumonia. She next participated in a "working
session" or discussion with national security
officials organized by the campaign, followed by a press
conference. This seemed to be quite
a successful event as the images conveyed a presidential look.
However, in the evening at a
big LGBT fundraiser Clinton made the "basket of deplorables"
gaffe. The Sept. 11 episode forced Clinton off the campaign trail
for several days. Upon
returning,
Clinton
addressed
major
gatherings
of
Hispanics
and
African-Americans,
speaking
at
the
Congressional
Hispanic
Caucus
Institute
and
Congressional
Black
Caucus
Foundation
dinners
and
the
Black
Women's
Agenda
symposium.
Additionally,
Clinton
made
a
pitch
for
support
from
millennials
in
a
speech
in
Philadelphia
on Sept. 19. Following the debate at
Hoftstra she finished off the month with events in the battleground
states of North Carolina, New Hampshire, Iowa and Florida. CNN's Dan
Merica reported on Sept. 30 that Clinton headlined 14 fundraisers in
September (nine shown below).

On Friday, during follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule. While at this morning's event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely."
