ACT Teams Up with Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU) for Series of Presidential Candidate Forums

IOWA CITY, Iowa—As presidential candidates gear up for the Iowa Caucuses, ACT and the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU) are partnering with colleges and universities throughout Iowa to host a series of Presidential Candidate Forums. Each forum will be hosted by Iowa Public Radio host Dean Borg and will focus on the most pressing education and workforce policies facing the nation.

“As an Iowa-based organization whose mission is to help people achieve education and workplace success, we’re thrilled to help facilitate conversations on college campuses between candidates and Iowa voters,” said Scott Montgomery, vice president of policy, advocacy and government relations for ACT.

“IAICU has been working to enhance the quality of educational opportunities for students in Iowa for more than 50 years,” said IAICU President Gary Steinke. “Presidential candidates have a barrage of topics to cover when campaigning. This forum offers them an opportunity to share their positions on education and workforce policy in a focused setting and with a focused audience made up largely of people on whom their decisions will have enormous impact: college students.”

The first forum, featuring Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, will be held this Sunday, Nov. 22, on the campus of St. Ambrose University in Davenport. A second forum featuring Republican candidate Gov. John Kasich will be held at Coe College in Cedar Rapids on November 30.

Offers have been extended to all Democratic and Republican presidential candidates and are currently being coordinated.
