DNC Announces Additional General Election Hires

Today, the Democratic National Committee announced new additions to their general election team. Michael Lux will join the DNC as Senior Advisor for Progressive Outreach and Donnie Fowler as Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) Director. Lux and Fowler join Kandie Stroud and Debbie Berger who were recently hired to direct radio and TV booking for the DNC through Election Day.

“I am excited to have these highly respected and experienced political professionals on board as we head into the final weeks of election,” said DNC Interim Chair Donna Brazile. “The stakes couldn’t be higher and all four of these individuals bring with them a set of highly valued skills and experiences that are critical to our efforts.”  

“Mike and Donnie have both spent years helping Democrats win and know what it takes to rally voters and key constituencies,” said DNC General Election Chief of Staff Brandon Davis.  “Kandie and Debbie are experienced professionals who will make sure that the Democratic message of building an economy that works for everyone reaches voters all across the country. I am thrilled they are all joining our team.”

Michael Lux is co-founder of Democracy Partners, a political consulting firm whose mission is building the progressive movement. He previously served as Senior Vice President for Political Action at People for the American Way and served in the Clinton Administration as a Special Assistant to the President for Public Liaison. Lux currently chairs American Family Voices and sits on the board of the Arca Foundation, Americans United for Change, Netroots Nation, Progressive Congress, and USAction. He also played a role in the formation of the Center for American progress, Air America, and MoveOn.org.  

Donnie Fowler has spent the last three decades working in the space between the innovation of Silicon Valley‎ and the cause of politics and public service. He is on leave as CEO of a tech-focused, public service venture and is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco. Donnie is a veteran of numerous national political campaigns, having worked in 17 different states for nine presidential candidates since 1988. In 2000, he was National Field & Delegates Director for Vice President Al Gore, and he has a perfect 3-0 record leading battleground state victories, including as 2004 Michigan state director for John Kerry and as 2008 Indiana senior advisor for Barack Obama. 
 
Kandie Stroud founded Stroud Communications, a subsidiary of Stroud and Associates LLC, a communications and media strategy firm in Washington, DC. In her international Public Affairs Practice, Stroud has counseled a variety of public and private sector clients on strategic media and public campaign management. Stroud Communications has created or engaged in innovative media programs and highly targeted media campaigns since 2000 for the White House, the Democratic National Committee, the House and Senate, the Hillary Clinton for President campaign, the Mark Warner for President campaign, the Obama for President campaign, as well as creating and managing media events for Families USA, the New Hampshire Primary, Campaign for America’s Future, the Democratic National Conventions of 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016.
 
Debbie Berger is an experienced public relations professional with an extensive background in political campaign strategy and TV production with CNN. She previously spent ten years in London, where she was a communications consultant at Young Enterprise London, an independent communications adviser with The Assembly Marketing Firm, and a project manager for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospitals International Outreach Programme. Prior to that she worked for Freud Communications, London.  Prior to London, Debbie worked in the US as Director of Media Strategy at the Center for American Progress in Washington DC.  She was also a booker/producer at CNN in Washington on several news programs including Crossfire and Burden of Proof.
