DNC 2014 Winter Meeting: Columbus 2016  ...next >

Feb. 27, 2014 - The first thing DNC members saw when they entered the Capitol Hilton was a sign from Columbus 2016.  Columbus is the only city that has publicly launched an effort to explore hosting the 2016 Democratic National Convention.  On Feb. 7 the DNC sent out letters to cities inviting them to request an RFP.
Preparing for the reception.
Not much exciting in the gift bag, but they had to put together a lot of them.

Some of the key people on the Columbus team: (front) former Bill Clinton campaign manager and DNC chair (1993-94) David Wilhelm; former Gov. Ted Strickland; Mayor Michael B. Coleman; Ohio Democratic Party chair Chris Redfern; City Councilmember Michelle Mills; State Rep. Kevin Boyce.

Fare included three kinds of sliders — crab cake, braised brisket and wild mushroom.
Ohio Democratic Party chair Chris Redfern.
City Councilmember Michelle Mills lauded Columbus and said DNC members could "stop shopping."
Mayor Michael B. Coleman.
The Columbus signs created a convention motif.
More sliders.
