Rally for America's Immigrant and Refugee Families ...next >
Jan. 14, 2017--CASA, Center for Community Change/FIRM, Make the Road, New York Immigration Coalition, SEIU and United We Dream hosted a "Rally for America's Immigrant and Refugee Families at Metropolitan AME Church in downtown DC.  According to a release, "Thematically the rally will lift the voices of immigrant and refugee leaders of all backgrounds anound our shared values of Unity, Love, Resistance, Defense, and Sanctuary.  We will not only create a shared commitment to protect and defend immmigrant families from attack, but we will also launch a pro-active effort to demand human rights and dignity for recipients of DACA, undocumented immigrant families, refugees at risk and Muslim families targeted by the incoming Trump administration."  Cristina Jimenez, executive director and co-founder of United We Dream., declared, "Don't mess with DACA; leave DACA alone."  Similar rallies were held in cities around the country.
