Run Warren Run campaign announces New Hampshire staff, opening Manchester Campaign Office

Long-time Granite State activists, experienced field staffers open office as
momentum grows behind effort to encourage Sen. Elizabeth Warren to
enter 2016 race

MANCHESTER, NH -- Just days after more than 220 Run Warren Run volunteer-run house parties were held across the country, Democracy for America (DFA) announced the hiring of Kurt Ehrenberg as the campaign’s New Hampshire State Director, the recruitment of three other experienced field organizers, and the opening of the first Run Warren Run campaign office in the Granite State in Manchester.

The announcement comes just over two weeks after 100 Granite Staters met in Manchester to kick off the Run Warren Run campaign ahead of New Hampshire’s 2016 first-in-the-nation Democratic primary and two months since the formal launch of the national effort to encourage Senator Elizabeth Warren to enter the 2016 election.  Nationwide, more than 280,000 Americans have signed on to support the growing Run Warren Run campaign, a joint effort of DFA and MoveOn.org Political Action. The organizations have pledged to invest a combined $1.25 million into the effort.

Kurt Ehrenberg, who will direct the Run Warren Run team on the ground in New Hampshire, has lived in the Granite State for more than 35 years and most recently was the Political and Legislative Director of the New Hampshire AFL-CIO. A resident of Rye, Ehrenberg also served over seven years as the Sierra Club’s representative in New Hampshire and throughout New England.“I’m excited to join activists all across the Granite State to ensure we live up to our proud tradition of defying expectations, upsetting conventional wisdom, and picking presidents by working to bring Sen. Elizabeth Warren and her populist progressive vision for our country into 2016’s first-in-the-nation primary,” said Ehrenberg.

Ehrenberg will be joined by three other New Hampshire-based regional field directors supporting the Run Warren Run effort:

  • Jake Belanger, a lifelong Granite Stater from Epsom and University of New Hampshire graduate who recently worked with the New Hampshire Democratic Party on the campaign to re-elect Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Gov. Maggie Hassan, and Rep. Annie Kuster.

  • Diego Hernandez, who helped recruit, train and organize more than 200 volunteers to help elect Congressman Pete Aguilar win one of the tightest races of the 2014 cycle.

  • Jennica Simms, who spent the 2014 election cycle organizing voters on Elizabeth Esty’s successful reelection campaign for Congress after working on races in New Jersey.

Ehrenberg and his New Hampshire-based team will work out of DFA’s new Run Warren Run campaign office in Manchester at DFA plans on establishing a second campaign office in Portsmouth, NH and hold official office opening events later this month.

“Kurt is the kind of disciplined organizer with a deep understanding of the Granite State and a  firm commitment to Elizabeth Warren’s populist progressive vision for our country that we hoped we’d find to help lead our staff and volunteers in New Hampshire,” said Charles Chamberlain, Executive Director of Democracy for America. “From the North Country to the Southern Tier, the Upper Valley to the Seacoast, the team we’re putting in place in New Hampshire will work closely with the grassroots to show Senator Warren that she has the organization and energy she’ll need to mount a winning campaign for president rooted in her fight for working families.”

In December, more than 87% of Democracy for America members and 81% of MoveOn members voted to launch the Run Warren Run effort to encourage Elizabeth Warren to run for president, citing her continuous efforts to fix a rigged political and economic system that is failing America’s families. The Run Warren Run campaign website and launch video at RunWarrenRun.org focus on telling the story of the Massachusetts Senator, who has become known as a tireless, passionate advocate for giving all Americans a fighting chance in an economy rigged in favor of big banks and corporate interests.
