OVERVIEW: Unlike the
Clinton campaign, which launched with a huge organization in place, the
Sanders campaign started very small. The campaign expected it
might raise much less than it eventually did, so it stayed small longer
than it might have with the benefit of hindsight. Eventually it grew as
he garnered
support. A significant number of staff moved from working in
early states to the national team. At its peak the campaign had
about 900 people on staff (including field organizers in the
states). However, following the April 26 contests it made deep
cuts, paring back to 300-plus (+).
