REPUBLICANS | DEMOCRATS
This Page is Currently Under Development
(Dec. 31, 2015) - The 4th Quarter saw three more major Republican candidates bow out (Jindal on Nov. 17, Graham on Dec. 21 and Pataki on Dec. 29). At the time of their exits Jindal was the leading Iowa visitor and Graham was the leading NH visitor. Travel to these three early states was down from the 3rd Quarter (busy summer) was a very busy time for the presidential candidates in the early states. Overall since Nov. 7, 2012, potential, active and former Republican candidates have spent over a thousand days in these three early states1, or a bit more than four times as many days as the Democrats. In terms of total number of visits, the Republican three-state tally of 633.5 is 3.64 times that of the 174 visits by Democrats. For the 4th Quarter in these three states, XX major Republicans tallied XX visits and XX days compared to XX visits and XX days for the five active major Democrats plus potential candidate Biden, who was not active (3.03 times as many visits and 3.65 times as many days). Republican activists in these states thus have a lot more opportunities to see one of their candidates than do Democrats.
1. Due to limited resources this tally does not include visits to Nevada, but one can still get a sense of the level of traffic. Because Nevada is the third Democratic contest one would expect significantly more Democratic traffic than is going to South Carolina but still far less than Iowa and New Hampshire.
